Dr. Das has also been included in Stanford University’s top 2% most influential scientists list with subject rank (world): 179 for the year: 2022.

IIITH students secured third place for their project on Assessing the Impact of Climate Change on Himalayan Timberline Elevation: Developing a Novel Tool for Analyzing Correlation with Temperature and Precipitation at the first ever Climate and Sustainability Hackathon, hosted by Cloudera in collaboration with AMD. The event was held online from Santa Clara, California. The team members Lokesh Sharma (M.Tech-CSE) and Avantika Latwal (Ph.D-Scholar, Lab for Spatial Informatics), under the supervision of Dr. Rehana Shaik demonstrated outstanding innovation and expertise. The hackathon consisted of an Idea Phase that spanned from 18 October to 27 November 2023 to filter out the ideas. This was followed by a Prototype Submission Phase that occurred online from 29 January to 7 March 2024.

Aditya Kumar Singh, MS by Research (CSE), 3rd year, supervised by Avinash Sharma; Chandradeep Pokhariya, MS by Research (CSE), 3rd year, and Haran S K Raajesh, B.Tech (CSE) 3rd year, both supervised by Makarand Tapaswi have been awarded the Bank of Baroda Achievers Award for the year 2023-24 for their significant contributions to research in Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition (CVPR).

Prakash Tekchandani and Saurabh Agrawal pursuing Ph.D with Dr. Ashok K Das won the best paper award for their work on Secure Big Data Analytics using Cloud Storage for Internet of Vehicles at Springer’s sixth International Conference on Smart Vehicular Technology, Transportation, Communication and Applications (VTCA 2024) held at Kaohsiung, Taiwan from 16 to 18 April 2024.

Nancy Hada and Aditya Kumar Singh working with Dr. Kavita Vemuri won best paper award in Student category for their research work on FolkTalent: Enhancing Classification and Tagging of Indian Folk Paintings at the International Conference on FOSS Approaches towards Computational Intelligence and Language Technology (FOSS-CIL T24) held in Kerala from 21 to 22 March 2024.
