IIITH students in Brazil for IOL

The Indian National Team set off for Barzil to participate in the International Olympiad of Linguistics (IOL). While speaking to ANI, Manish Shrivastava, an assistant professor at IIIT Hyderabad said, IOL is a two-decade-old olympiad, one of the newer ones, which focuses on puzzles coming out of languages all across the world, and these are based on linguistic phenomena that are required to deeply understand language. Participants from all over the world from their school times, come there to participate in teams of four. We are sending two teams of four students each coming from all across India”.

Prof. P J Narayanan shares his expectations from education budget 2024

Emphasising the necessity of good quality education until class 12, Prof P J Narayanan, Director of IIIT Hyderabad, said, “Ensuring good quality education till class 12 is the most essential need of India. While the southern states have made moderate progress, the northern states lag significantly. Narayanan warns, “India as the most populous country and one with a high percentage of children must invest in this seriously. Only then can the demographic dividend be encashed. We will have a big disaster otherwise.”

IIITH launches Telugu photo project

In an effort to provide unrestricted access to a collection of photos depicting the Telugu states, the Indicwiki initiative at IIIT-Hyderabad has launched the #TeluguPhotoProject. The pilot project aims to bolster content availability for applications in artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), and other advanced technologies. The project seeks volunteers to capture and submit photos of culture, heritage, artefacts, nature, and everyday objects. These photos should be CC0 (“No Rights Reserved”) licensed, ensuring free access for public domain use.

IIITH celebrates 23rd Convocation

The 23rd Convocation of IIIT Hyderabad will be held on Saturday, 13th July 2024, 2pm at Global Peace Auditorium, Brahmakumaris Shanti Sarovar, Gachibowli, Hyderabad. Dr. (Mrs.) N Kalaiselvi, Director General, CSIR & Secretary, DSIR will present the convocation address. IIITH conducted its 23rd convocation and graduated 600 students and a record number of 32 PhDs and 224 Master’s with thesis. At the event, speakers urged graduates to think about what they will do in the future and how their work can contribute to the nation.

Prof. Ramesh Loganathan was a panelist at ET Education leadership summit 2024

The second edition of ET Education Leadership Summit 2024 was recently hosted at HICC Novotel. The event brought together stakeholders in the Indian education sector, recognising innovators from higher education to primary schools. The summit featured two panels of education experts. The first panel, comprising Ramesh Loganathan, Prof. IIITH; Ramakrishna Lingareddy, IT industry leader; and Dr. Archana Mantri, Vice chancellor, Anurag University discussed – Adapting Higher Education to the Digital Age: Challenges and Opportunities.
